Crescent Vitalis began as a small group of friends brought together by lived experience with sickle cell.
What started as honest conversations about pain, survival, and hope quickly became something more: a safe space where warriors could be seen, heard, and understood.
But the journey was not without loss.
Some of the very voices that helped shape this vision are no longer with us. Their absence transformed this community into more than just support rather it became a responsibility.
Today, Crescent Vitalis stands as both remembrance and resolve:
a commitment to continue what they started, and to ensure that no warrior walks alone.
We believe that living with sickle cell should not mean living in isolation.
We stand for awareness that goes beyond surface-level campaigns.
We stand for support that is built on real understanding.
And we stand for a future where every warrior has access to the community,
knowledge, and care they deserve.
I thought it would be another awareness day, just videos online and empty trends. But Crescent Vitalis changed that. Warriors were truly celebrated and uplifted, not just used as a hashtag. Seeing that, I realized real advocacy looks like this.
I didn’t plan to cry, but I almost did. Amblest Kanu, a proud sickle cell warrior, stood tall not just for himself but for those who couldn’t. That day, warriors were seen as heroes, not victims. Crescent Vitalis made kindness mobile, turning pain into purpose and showing everyone what true advocacy is. Amblest’s leadership is inspiring—he doesn’t just talk about change, he embodies it
This was my first time seeing an organization that truly cares about the sickle cell community. Even in the middle of exams, seeing Crescent Vitalis provide care packages and free transportation for warriors made my day. It wasn’t just support—it was love, respect, and celebration.
The Countdown isn’t just a book—it’s a window into the strength and reality of warriors. Amblest’s work doesn’t just tell stories; it connects people to the courage and resilience of sickle cell warriors. It’s transformative, enlightening, and empowering
I didn’t plan on volunteering that day, but I couldn’t ignore what was happening. Crescent Vitalis was everywhere—free rides, care packages, a team led by Amblest Kanu and his peers, showing real passion and action. Being there reminded me that impact isn’t about a formal role—it’s about showing up and supporting others. I left inspired to be part of something bigger than myself.
Being part of Crescent Vitalis shows me daily that advocacy is about action, presence, and empowerment. Amblest’s vision turns every initiative into a platform where warriors and supporters alike can thrive, learn, and lift each other. This movement isn’t just events—it’s a living example of courage, leadership, and purpose in action.
A masterpiece. The characters’ struggles, leadership, and compassion reflect the real spirit Crescent Vitalis fosters. Amblest shows us what leadership looks like: guiding, empowering, and inspiring action. This book—and the movement—makes you want to join, contribute, and stand with warriors every day.
