HOW IT STARTED

Crescent Vitalis began with a group of friends bound by advocacy, lived experience, and a shared commitment to creating a safe space for people living with sickle cell.

What started as conversations grew into a mission. Along the way, illness claimed some of the very voices that helped shape this vision. Their loss transformed our purpose into a responsibility — to continue, to protect, and to advocate louder.

Crescent Vitalis exists today as both remembrance and resolve: a promise to build the community we once dreamed of, and to ensure that no warrior walks alone.

The Problem

People affected by sickle cell exist in fragmented systems.
Warriors are isolated, sharing deeply personal experiences in unsafe spaces or private chats with no continuity. Supporters want to help but don’t know how or where they fit. Healthcare professionals are disconnected from lived realities.
There is no single system that understands who someone is, why they are there, and what role they are meant to play..
